ANTENATAL BREASTFEEDING COURSE
We often prepare so well antenatally for our baby’s arrival delving into the labour and the practicalities of postpartum like prams etc. What we overlook is how to have the knowledge and skills to feed our babies efficiently; knowing normal from abnormal and having realistic expectations of those early days & weeks.
Investment into this is hard because there isn’t necessarily provisions or course for this out there or with NHS.
if this is something you want to expand your preparation into this is the course for you….. and they’re available 1:1 or in groups
you will learn;
- Anatomy and Physiology of lactation
- feeding cues and feeding behaviours
- normal rhythms of feeds
- optimal positions to increase chances of deeper latch
- hand expressing/harvesting
- how and when to use shields/ sizing of these and pump flanges
- storage of breastmilk
- stooling and wet nappy amounts
- when to contact a (IBCLC) Lactation Consultant
it includes handouts and links to helpful resources to assist you in your journey as well as sign up to the supportive peer support whatsapp group that I run and moderate.
