About Me

I’m Lucy — a mother of four, an Independent Midwife, and an IBCLC Lactation Consultant.

My own journey into motherhood has very much shaped the way I practise. I birthed my first baby in hospital, followed by three home births, and I’ve breastfed all of my children — not without challenges, I might add. Those experiences have given me a real, lived understanding of how pregnancy, birth and feeding can feel, not just how they look clinically.

My midwifery career began in 2007 when I started my training at Kingston & St George’s University Hospitals. During that time, I worked across St Helier and Croydon (formerly Mayday) Hospitals, as well as spending a short period working in New York City.

I qualified in 2010 and went on to work at Kingston Hospital, gaining experience across all areas of maternity care — including labour ward, postnatal care, community midwifery, antenatal clinics, transitional care, teaching Antenatal classes and supporting the home birth team.

At one point in my career, I made the decision to step down from my role as a Band 6 Midwife to work as a Band 4 Maternity Support Worker. This was a very conscious choice. I felt increasingly that, within the constraints of the system, I wasn’t able to provide the level of clinical, emotional and relationship-based care that women and families deserved.

In 2018, following a move to West Sussex, I chose to leave NHS practice and begin working independently.

That decision came from a very simple place — a desire to return to the roots of midwifery. To work in a way that is more connected, more consistent, and truly centred around the women and families I support.

Since then, I’ve supported families through many different journeys — including both home and hospital births in a supportive role — each one unique, with its own pace, decisions and turning points.

Over the years, my work has naturally grown to include a wider range of support, allowing me to care for families more holistically. My current offerings include:

  • Antenatal and postnatal midwifery care
  • IBCLC lactation support
  • Birth reflections and notes reviews
  • Hypnobirthing (The Little Birth Company)
  • Antenatal and breastfeeding education
  • Mother Blessing ceremonies
  • Pregnancy information sessions and postnatal support groups

I care deeply about the work I do and the families I support. I continue to develop my skills and services so that the care I offer remains responsive, thoughtful and genuinely supportive at every stage.
